Rural Grant

Capital grant funding to support businesses located in identified rural areas in the Harborough district. The grants will help businesses to diversify, innovate or grow.

They span across four themes:

  • Farm Business Diversification
  • Green Technology
  • Innovation and Growth
  • Rural Tourism

The Harry James Riddleston Charity – Business Loan

The Harry James Riddleston Charity has been in existence since the early 1970’s and was set up with the money Harry James Riddleston bequeathed to the Trust on his death.  Born in Leicester in the late 1800’s, Harry James Riddleston was a self-made man who founded two successful businesses in Leicester.  Having begun these businesses with very little initial capital, Harry Riddleston chose to assist future entrepreneurs by establishing a charitable trust to help young people start their own businesses.

The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity – Business Loan

Eligible candidates may borrow up to £20,000 interest free for 9 years to establish themselves in their chosen career/business. To be eligible for consideration for a personal loan for business purposes you must be:

  • over 18 and under 45 years of age;
  • resident in Leicestershire or Rutland and wanting to start a business or require additional funds for growth / expansion;
  • going to base or are already running the business in Leicestershire or Rutland;
  • have liquid assets of less than £40,000

Invest to Grow

The University of Derby’s Invest to Grow programme provides grants and loans of between £15,000 and £250,000 to support private-sector businesses across the East Midlands to innovate, grow andcreate jobs. The programme is now funded by the repayment of loans awarded to successful applicants.

For your project to qualify for Invest to Grow funding, you will need to demonstrate that it meets the following criteria:

It will create new jobs or safeguard existing positions in your company
It will increase the scope or scale of your company activity
It will improve the company’s performance
It has not commenced and will not be achievable in the timescales proposed without Invest to grow support
