Mental Health First Aid courses from Stockwood Consulting
April 23 - April 24£200.00
Every year, one in four people in the UK experience a mental health issue. One in six reports a common mental health problem, such as anxiety and depression, in any given week. In all, mental health-related issues account for more than 12 per cent of the total sick days taken in the UK.
In the light of such statistics, Parliament debated a call in January for the 1981 regulations to be amended so that they provide for mental as well as physical first aid in the workplace.
Everyone can make difference – both employers and employees, with obvious benefits to both. Recognising and supporting staff experiencing mental health issues can make our workplaces better places to be and reduce the amount of time people have off work because of these issues.
Mental Health First Aid Course, Tuesday 23-Wednesday 24 April, £200 per person
A two-day course that gives attendees an in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing, plus the practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues. You will gain the confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress and develop enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening. People will leave the course with the knowledge to be able to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix.
Each course will be delivered by a specialist trainer at HIC. The trainer has been coached by Mental Health First Aid England to discuss the issues and train people on aspects of Mental Health, and point them in the direction of further support. The trainer will provide full support during the course, as some quite difficult topics are covered.
All courses include detailed manuals and certification through MHFA England.
