Harborough office space attracts new business, Supplychain21. We questioned Sarah Perry, Director of Supplychain 21, on their worldwide drinks freight forwarding and logistics company, and why they chose the HIC for their new office space in Market Harborough.

 

What is it about the HIC that has motivated you to base your business here?

We were motivated to move our business to Harborough Innovation Centre due to the flexible office space, great facilities, central location and the opportunity to receive bespoke business support in order to help grow our business

We found Harborough Innovation Centre on Google.

How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

The idea for the business was generated by Andrew Caswell after he left his job working as a logistics director at Carlsberg. An ex-colleague approached him needing a logistics solution for his newly founded drinks business.

What was your mission at the outset?

Our mission at the outset was to provide a one stop shop drinks logistics service for our customers.

When did you start the business?

The business was started in 2009.

How many employees do you have, in what type of roles?

We currently have 6 employees. We have a combination of operational logistics roles and administration roles.

What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture?

We are a freight forwarding and logistics company specialising in transport and haulage to the drinks industry throughout the UK, Europe and the Rest of the World.

We work with several suppliers to offer a range of services:

–          UK single pallet and full load haulage solutions

–          Hazardous haulage solutions

–          Duty Suspended haulage solutions with use of our Movement Guarantee

–          EU Import and Export haulage from a single pallet to a full load

–          Rest of World Import and Export Sea Container and Air Freight

–          Customs Clearance Administration

–          Duty Drawback Administration

–          Consultancy

How do you advertise your business?

We advertise our business mainly through our website. We do also proactively contact new business prospects to advertise our services but most of our new business is acquired through our current customers recommending our services to others.

Do you work locally or nationally?

We work with a wide range of customers and suppliers; locally, nationally and internationally.

What is unique about your business?

Our business is unique because we specialise in finding global transport solutions for the drinks industry. We also specialise in customs clearance administration, duty drawback administration and have our own movement guarantee allowing us to move duty suspended excise goods.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Good communication is fundamental in building and maintaining relationships; so always try to ensure your communication style is responsive, clear and helpful.
